وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ 86:1
Wassama-i wattariq
By the heaven and the Morning Star
Also spelled Surah At Tariq.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ 86:1
Wassama-i wattariq
By the heaven and the Morning Star
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ 86:2
Wama adraka ma attariq
- Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is!
ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ 86:3
Annajmu aththaqib
- The piercing Star!
إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ 86:4
In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafith
No human soul but hath a guardian over it.
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ 86:5
Falyanthuri al-insanumimma khuliq
So let man consider from what he is created.
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ 86:6
Khuliqa min ma-in dafiq
He is created from a gushing fluid
يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ 86:7
Yakhruju min bayni assulbi wattara-ib
That issued from between the loins and ribs.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ 86:8
Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadir
Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life)
يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ 86:9
Yawma tubla assara-ir
On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out.
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ 86:10
Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasir
Then will he have no might nor any helper.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ 86:11
Wassama-i thati arrajAA
By the heaven which giveth the returning rain,
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ 86:12
Wal-ardi thati assadAA
And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants)
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ 86:13
Innahu laqawlun fasl
Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word,
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ 86:14
Wama huwa bilhazl
It is no pleasantry.
إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا 86:15
Innahum yakeedoona kayda
Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad)
وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا 86:16
Waakeedu kayda
And I plot a plot (against them).
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا 86:17
Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwayda
So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while.
