سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى 87:1

Sabbihi isma rabbika al-aAAla

Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ 87:2

Allathee khalaqa fasawwa

Who createth, then disposeth;

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ 87:3

Wallathee qaddara fahada

Who measureth, then guideth;

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ 87:4

Wallathee akhraja almarAAa

Who bringeth forth the pasturage,

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ 87:5

FajaAAalahu ghuthaan ahwa

Then turneth it to russet stubble.

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ 87:6

Sanuqri-oka fala tansa

We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ 87:7

Illa ma shaa Allahuinnahu yaAAlamu aljahra wama yakhfa

Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden;

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ 87:8

Wanuyassiruka lilyusra

And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease.

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ 87:9

Fathakkir in nafaAAati aththikra

Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder.

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ 87:10

Sayaththakkaru man yakhsha

He will heed who feareth,

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى 87:11

Wayatajannabuha al-ashqa

But the most hapless will flout it,

ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ 87:12

Allathee yasla annaraalkubra

He who will be flung to the great Fire

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ 87:13

Thumma la yamootu feeha walayahya

Wherein he will neither die nor live.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ 87:14

Qad aflaha man tazakka

He is successful who groweth,

وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ 87:15

Wathakara isma rabbihi fasalla

And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth,

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا 87:16

Bal tu/thiroona alhayata addunya

But ye prefer the life of the world

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ 87:17

Wal-akhiratu khayrun waabqa

Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ 87:18

Inna hatha lafee assuhufial-oola

Lo! This is in the former scrolls.

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ 87:19

Suhufi ibraheema wamoosa
