ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ 55:1

Arrahman

The Beneficent

عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ 55:2

AAallama alqur-an

Hath made known the Qur'an.

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ 55:3

Khalaqa al-insan

He hath created man.

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ 55:4

AAallamahu albayan

He hath taught him utterance.

ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ 55:5

Ashshamsu walqamaru bihusban

The sun and the moon are made punctual.

وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ 55:6

Wannajmu washshajaru yasjudan

The stars and the trees prostrate.

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ 55:7

Wassamaa rafaAAahawawadaAAa almeezan

And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure,

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ 55:8

Alla tatghaw fee almeezan

That ye exceed not the measure,

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ 55:9

Waaqeemoo alwazna bilqisti walatukhsiroo almeezan

But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof.

وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ 55:10

Wal-arda wadaAAahalil-anam

And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures,

فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ 55:11

Feeha fakihatun wannakhluthatu al-akmam

Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees,

وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ 55:12

Walhabbu thoo alAAasfiwarrayhan

Husked grain and scented herb.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:13

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ 55:14

Khalaqa al-insana min salsalinkalfakhkhar

He created man of clay like the potter's,

وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ 55:15

Wakhalaqa aljanna min marijinmin nar

And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:16

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ 55:17

Rabbu almashriqayni warabbu almaghribayn

Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests!

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:18

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ 55:19

Maraja albahrayni yaltaqiyan

He hath loosed the two seas. They meet.

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ 55:20

Baynahuma barzakhun la yabghiyan

There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other).

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:21

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ 55:22

Yakhruju minhuma allu/luo walmarjan

There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:23

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththibani

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ 55:24

Walahu aljawari almunshaatufee albahri kal-aAAlam

His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:25

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ 55:26

Kullu man AAalayha fan

Everyone that is thereon will pass away;

وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ 55:27

Wayabqa wajhu rabbika thooaljalali wal-ikram

There remaineth but the Countenance of thy Lord of Might and Glory.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:28

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ 55:29

Yas-aluhu man fee assamawatiwal-ardi kulla yawmin huwa fee sha/n

All that are in the heavens and the earth entreat Him. Every day He exerciseth (universal) power.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:30

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ 55:31

Sanafrughu lakum ayyuha aththaqalan

We shall dispose of you, O ye two dependents (man and jinn).

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:32

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ 55:33

Ya maAAshara aljinni wal-insiini istataAAtum an tanfuthoo min aqtari assamawatiwal-ardi fanfuthoo la tanfuthoonailla bisultan

O company of jinn and men, if ye have power to penetrate (all) regions of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate (them)! Ye will never penetrate them save with (Our) sanction.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:34

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ 55:35

Yursalu AAalaykuma shuwathunmin narin wanuhasun fala tantasiran

There will be sent, against you both, heat of fire and flash of brass, and ye will not escape.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:36

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ 55:37

Fa-itha inshaqqati assamaofakanat wardatan kaddihan

And when the heaven splitteth asunder and becometh rosy like red hide -

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:38

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? -

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ 55:39

Fayawma-ithin la yus-alu AAan thanbihiinsun wala jan

On that day neither man nor jinni will be questioned of his sin.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:40

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ 55:41

YuAArafu almujrimoona biseemahumfayu/khathu binnawasee wal-aqdam

The guilty will be known by their marks, and will be taken by the forelocks and the feet.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:42

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ 55:43

Hathihi jahannamu allatee yukaththibubiha almujrimoon

This is hell which the guilty deny.

يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ 55:44

Yatoofoona baynaha wabayna hameeminan

They go circling round between it and fierce, boiling water.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:45

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ 55:46

Waliman khafa maqama rabbihijannatan

But for him who feareth the standing before his Lord there are two gardens.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:47

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ 55:48

Thawata afnan

Of spreading branches.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:49

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ 55:50

Feehima AAaynani tajriyan

Wherein are two fountains flowing.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:51

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ 55:52

Feehima min kulli fakihatinzawjan

Wherein is every kind of fruit in pairs.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:53

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ 55:54

Muttaki-eena AAala furushin bata-inuhamin istabraqin wajana aljannatayni dan

Reclining upon couches lined with silk brocade, the fruit of both the gardens near to hand.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:55

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ 55:56

Feehinna qasiratu attarfilam yatmithhunna insun qablahum wala jan

Therein are those of modest gaze, whom neither man nor jinni will have touched before them.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:57

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ 55:58

Kaannahunna alyaqootu walmarjan

(In beauty) like the jacynth and the coral-stone.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:59

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ 55:60

Hal jazao al-ihsani illaal-ihsan

Is the reward of goodness aught save goodness?

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:61

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ 55:62

Wamin doonihima jannatan

And beside them are two other gardens,

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:63

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ 55:64

Mudhammatan

Dark green with foliage.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:65

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ 55:66

Feehima AAaynani naddakhatan

Wherein are two abundant springs.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:67

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ 55:68

Feehima fakihatun wanakhlunwarumman

Wherein is fruit, the date-palm and pomegranate.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:69

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ 55:70

Feehinna khayratun hisan

Wherein (are found) the good and beautiful -

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:71

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? -

حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ 55:72

Hoorun maqsooratun feealkhiyam

Fair ones, close-guarded in pavilions -

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:73

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? -

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ 55:74

Lam yatmithhunna insun qablahum walajan

Whom neither man nor jinni will have touched before them -

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:75

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ 55:76

Muttaki-eena AAala rafrafin khudrinwaAAabqariyyin hisan

Reclining on green cushions and fair carpets.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55:77

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny?

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ 55:78

Tabaraka ismu rabbika theealjalali wal-ikram

Blessed be the name of thy Lord, Mighty and glorious!
