Surah Mursalat — The Emissaries

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا 77:1

Walmursalati AAurfa

By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا 77:2

FalAAasifati AAasfa

By the raging hurricanes,

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا 77:3

Wannashirati nashra

By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive;

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا 77:4

Falfariqati farqa

By those who winnow with a winnowing,

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا 77:5

Falmulqiyati thikra

By those who bring down the Reminder,

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا 77:6

AAuthran aw nuthra

To excuse or to warn,

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ 77:7

Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAA

Surely that which ye are promised will befall.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ 77:8

Fa-itha annujoomu tumisat

So when the stars are put out,

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ 77:9

Wa-itha assamao furijat

And when the sky is riven asunder,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ 77:10

Wa-itha aljibalu nusifat

And when the mountains are blown away,

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ 77:11

Wa-itha arrusulu oqqitat

And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed -

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ 77:12

Li-ayyi yawmin ojjilat

For what day is the time appointed?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ 77:13

Liyawmi alfasl

For the Day of Decision.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ 77:14

Wama adraka ma yawmualfasl

And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! -

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:15

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 77:16

Alam nuhliki al-awwaleen

Destroyed We not the former folk,

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ 77:17

Thumma nutbiAAuhumu al-akhireen

Then caused the latter folk to follow after?

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 77:18

Kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen

Thus deal We ever with the guilty.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:19

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ 77:20

Alam nakhluqkum min ma-in maheen

Did We not create you from a base fluid

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ 77:21

FajaAAalnahu fee qararinmakeen

Which We laid up in a safe abode

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ 77:22

Ila qadarin maAAloom

For a known term?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ 77:23

Faqadarna faniAAma alqadiroon

Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:24

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا 77:25

Alam najAAali al-arda kifata

Have We not made the earth a receptacle

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا 77:26

Ahyaan waamwata

Both for the living and the dead,

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا 77:27

WajaAAalna feeha rawasiyashamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furata

And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:28

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ 77:29

Intaliqoo ila ma kuntumbihi tukaththiboon

(It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny;

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ 77:30

Intaliqoo ila thillinthee thalathi shuAAab

Depart unto the shadow falling threefold,

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ 77:31

La thaleelin walayughnee mina allahab

(Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame.

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ 77:32

Innaha tarmee bishararin kalqasr

Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles,

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ 77:33

Kaannahu jimalatun sufr

(Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:34

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ 77:35

Hatha yawmu la yantiqoon

This is a day wherein they speak not,

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ 77:36

Wala yu/thanu lahum fayaAAtathiroon

Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:37

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 77:38

Hatha yawmu alfasli jamaAAnakumwal-awwaleen

This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ 77:39

Fa-in kana lakum kaydun fakeedoon

If now ye have any wit, outwit Me.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:40

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ 77:41

Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalinwaAAuyoon

Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains,

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ 77:42

Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoon

And fruits such as they desire.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ 77:43

Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimakuntum taAAmaloon

(Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 77:44

Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen

Thus do We reward the good.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:45

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ 77:46

Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakummujrimoon

Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:47

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ 77:48

Wa-itha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo layarkaAAoon

When it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 77:49

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ 77:50

Fabi-ayyi hadeethin baAAdahuyu/minoon

In what statement, after this, will they believe?
