إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ 82:1

Itha assamao infatarat

When the heaven is cleft asunder,

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ 82:2

Wa-itha alkawakibu intatharat

When the planets are dispersed,

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ 82:3

Wa-itha albiharu fujjirat

When the seas are poured forth,

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ 82:4

Wa-itha alqubooru buAAthirat

And the sepulchres are overturned,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ 82:5

AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamatwaakhkharat

A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ 82:6

Ya ayyuha al-insanu magharraka birabbika alkareem

O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ 82:7

Allathee khalaqaka fasawwakafaAAadalak

Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ 82:8

Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaarakkabak

Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ 82:9

Kalla bal tukaththiboona biddeen

Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ 82:10

Wa-inna AAalaykum lahafitheen

Lo! there are above you guardians,

كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ 82:11

Kiraman katibeen

Generous and recording,

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ 82:12

YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloon

Who know (all) that ye do.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ 82:13

Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeem

Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ 82:14

Wa-inna alfujjara lafee jaheem

And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ 82:15

Yaslawnaha yawma addeen

They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ 82:16

Wama hum AAanha bigha-ibeen

And will not be absent thence.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ 82:17

Wama adraka ma yawmu addeeni

Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ 82:18

Thumma ma adraka mayawmu addeen

Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ 82:19

Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsinshay-an wal-amru yawma-ithin lillah

A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.
