۞ وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ 36:28
Wama anzalna AAalaqawmihi min baAAdihi min jundin mina assama-i wamakunna munzileen
We sent not down against his people after him a host from heaven, nor do We ever send.
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَـٰمِدُونَ 36:29
In kanat illa sayhatanwahidatan fa-itha hum khamidoon
It was but one Shout, and lo! they were extinct.
يَـٰحَسْرَةً عَلَى ٱلْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ 36:30
Ya hasratan AAalaalAAibadi ma ya/teehim min rasoolin illa kanoobihi yastahzi-oon
Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him!
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ 36:31
Alam yaraw kam ahlakna qablahum minaalqurooni annahum ilayhim la yarjiAAoon
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, which indeed returned not unto them;
وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ 36:32
Wa-in kullun lamma jameeAAun ladaynamuhdaroon
But all, without exception, will be brought before Us.
وَءَايَةٌ لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ ٱلْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَـٰهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ 36:33
Waayatun lahumu al-ardualmaytatu ahyaynaha waakhrajna minhahabban faminhu ya/kuloon
A token unto them is the dead earth. We revive it, and We bring forth from it grain so that they eat thereof;
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّـٰتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَـٰبٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْعُيُونِ 36:34
WajaAAalna feeha jannatinmin nakheelin waaAAnabin wafajjarna feehamina alAAuyoon
And We have placed therein gardens of the date-palm and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein,
لِيَأْكُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ 36:35
Liya/kuloo min thamarihi wamaAAamilat-hu aydeehim afala yashkuroon
That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks?
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 36:36
Subhana allathee khalaqaal-azwaja kullaha mimma tunbitu al-arduwamin anfusihim wamimma la yaAAlamoon
Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not!
وَءَايَةٌ لَّهُمُ ٱلَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ 36:37
Waayatun lahumu allaylu naslakhuminhu annahara fa-itha hum muthlimoon
A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness.
وَٱلشَّمْسُ تَجْرِى لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ 36:38
Washshamsu tajree limustaqarrin lahathalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleem
And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise.
وَٱلْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَـٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلْعُرْجُونِ ٱلْقَدِيمِ 36:39
Walqamara qaddarnahu manazilahatta AAada kalAAurjooni alqadeem
And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf.
لَا ٱلشَّمْسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدْرِكَ ٱلْقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّيْلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ 36:40
La ashshamsu yanbaghee lahaan tudrika alqamara wala allaylu sabiqu annahariwakullun fee falakin yasbahoon
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit.
وَءَايَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ 36:41
Waayatun lahum anna hamalnathurriyyatahum fee alfulki almashhoon
And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship,
وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِۦ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ 36:42
Wakhalaqna lahum min mithlihi mayarkaboon
And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride.
وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ 36:43
Wa-in nasha/ nughriqhum fala sareekhalahum wala hum yunqathoon
And if We will, We drown them, and there is no help for them, neither can they be saved;
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَمَتَـٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ 36:44
Illa rahmatan minnawamataAAan ila heen
Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ 36:45
Wa-itha qeela lahumu ittaqoo mabayna aydeekum wama khalfakum laAAallakum turhamoon
When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless).
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ 36:46
Wama ta/teehim min ayatin min ayatirabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideen
Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it!
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُۥٓ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ 36:47
Wa-itha qeela lahum anfiqoo mimmarazaqakumu Allahu qala allatheena kafaroolillatheena amanoo anutAAimu man law yashaoAllahu atAAamahu in antum illa fee dalalinmubeen
And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest.
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ 36:48
Wayaqooloona mata hathaalwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeen
And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful?
مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ 36:49
Ma yanthuroona illasayhatan wahidatan ta/khuthuhum wahumyakhissimoon
They await but one Shout, which will surprise them while they are disputing.
فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ 36:50
Fala yastateeAAoona tawsiyatanwala ila ahlihim yarjiAAoon
Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk.
وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ 36:51
Wanufikha fee assoori fa-ithahum mina al-ajdathi ila rabbihim yansiloon
And the trumpet is blown and lo! from the graves they hie unto their Lord,
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ 36:52
Qaloo ya waylana manbaAAathana min marqadina hatha mawaAAada arrahmanu wasadaqaalmursaloon
Crying: Woe upon us! Who hath raised us from our place of sleep? This is that which the Beneficent did promise, and the messengers spoke truth.
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ 36:53
In kanat illa sayhatanwahidatan fa-itha hum jameeAAun ladayna muhdaroon
It is but one Shout, and behold them brought together before Us!
فَٱلْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ 36:54
Falyawma la tuthlamunafsun shay-an wala tujzawna illa ma kuntumtaAAmaloon
This day no soul is wronged in aught; nor are ye requited aught save what ye used to do.
إِنَّ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى شُغُلٍ فَـٰكِهُونَ 36:55
Inna as-haba aljannati alyawmafee shughulin fakihoon
Lo! those who merit paradise this day are happily employed,
هُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ مُتَّكِـُٔونَ 36:56
Hum waazwajuhum fee thilalinAAala al-ara-iki muttaki-oon
They and their wives, in pleasant shade, on thrones reclining;
لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ 36:57
Lahum feeha fakihatun walahumma yaddaAAoon
Theirs the fruit (of their good deeds) and theirs (all) that they ask;
سَلَـٰمٌ قَوْلًا مِّن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ 36:58
Salamun qawlan min rabbin raheem
The word from a Merciful Lord (for them) is: Peace!
وَٱمْتَـٰزُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ 36:59
Wamtazoo alyawma ayyuhaalmujrimoon
But avaunt ye, O ye guilty, this day!
۞ أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَـٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ 36:60
Alam aAAhad ilaykum ya banee adamaan la taAAbudoo ashshaytana innahu lakumAAaduwwun mubeen
Did I not charge you, O ye sons of Adam, that ye worship not the devil - Lo! he is your open foe! -
وَأَنِ ٱعْبُدُونِى ۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ 36:61
Waani oAAbudoonee hatha siratunmustaqeem
But that ye worship Me? That was the right path.
وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعْقِلُونَ 36:62
Walaqad adalla minkum jibillankatheeran afalam takoonoo taAAqiloon
Yet he hath led astray of you a great multitude. Had ye then no sense?
هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ 36:63
Hathihi jahannamu allatee kuntumtooAAadoon
This is hell which ye were promised (if ye followed him).
ٱصْلَوْهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ 36:64
Islawha alyawma bimakuntum takfuroon
Burn therein this day for that ye disbelieved.
ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ 36:65
Alyawma nakhtimu AAala afwahihimwatukallimuna aydeehim watashhadu arjuluhum bima kanooyaksiboon
This day We seal up their mouths, and their hands speak out to Us and their feet bear witness as to what they used to earn.
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَٰطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ 36:66
Walaw nashao latamasnaAAala aAAyunihim fastabaqoo assiratafaanna yubsiroon
And had We willed, We verily could have quenched their eyesight so that they should struggle for the way. Then how could they have seen?
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ 36:67
Walaw nashao lamasakhnahumAAala makanatihim fama istataAAoo mudiyyanwala yarjiAAoon
And had We willed, We verily could have fixed them in their place, making them powerless to go forward or turn back.
وَمَن نُّعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ 36:68
Waman nuAAammirhu nunakkis-hu fee alkhalqiafala yaAAqiloon
He whom we bring unto old age, We reverse him in creation (making him go back to weakness after strength). Have ye then no sense?
وَمَا عَلَّمْنَـٰهُ ٱلشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْءَانٌ مُّبِينٌ 36:69
Wama AAallamnahu ashshiAArawama yanbaghee lahu in huwa illa thikrunwaqur-anun mubeen
And We have not taught him (Muhammad) poetry, nor is it meet for him. This is naught else than a Reminder and a Lecture making plain,
لِّيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ 36:70
Liyunthira man kana hayyanwayahiqqa alqawlu AAala alkafireen
To warn whosoever liveth, and that the word may be fulfilled against the disbelievers.
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَآ أَنْعَـٰمًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَـٰلِكُونَ 36:71
Awa lam yaraw anna khalaqnalahum mimma AAamilat aydeena anAAaman fahumlaha malikoon
Have they not seen how We have created for them of Our handiwork the cattle, so that they are their owners,
وَذَلَّلْنَـٰهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ 36:72
Wathallalnaha lahumfaminha rakoobuhum waminha ya/kuloon
And have subdued them unto them, so that some of them they have for riding, some for food?
وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ 36:73
Walahum feeha manafiAAu wamasharibuafala yashkuroon
Benefits and (divers) drinks have they from them. Will they not then give thanks?
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ 36:74
Wattakhathoo min dooni Allahialihatan laAAallahum yunsaroon
And they have taken (other) gods beside Allah, in order that they may be helped.
لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُّحْضَرُونَ 36:75
La yastateeAAoona nasrahumwahum lahum jundun muhdaroon
It is not in their power to help them; but they (the worshippers) are unto them a host in arms.
فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ 36:76
Fala yahzunka qawluhum innanaAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoon
So let not their speech grieve thee (O Muhammad). Lo! We know what they conceal and what proclaim.
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ 36:77
Awa lam yara al-insanu annakhalaqnahu min nutfatin fa-itha huwa khaseemunmubeen
Hath not man seen that We have created him from a drop of seed? Yet lo! he is an open opponent.
وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْىِ ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ وَهِىَ رَمِيمٌ 36:78
Wadaraba lana mathalanwanasiya khalqahu qala man yuhyee alAAithamawahiya rameem
And he hath coined for Us a similitude, and hath forgotten the fact of his creation, saying: Who will revive these bones when they have rotted away?
قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ 36:79
Qul yuhyeeha allatheeanshaaha awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin AAaleem
Say: He will revive them Who produced them at the first, for He is Knower of every creation,
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ 36:80
Allathee jaAAala lakum mina ashshajarial-akhdari naran fa-itha antum minhutooqidoon
Who hath appointed for you fire from the green tree, and behold! ye kindle from it.
أَوَلَيْسَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ 36:81
Awa laysa allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda biqadirin AAala an yakhluqamithlahum bala wahuwa alkhallaqu alAAaleem
Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the like of them? Aye, that He is! for He is the All-Wise Creator,
إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ 36:82
Innama amruhu itha aradashay-an an yaqoola lahu kun fayakoon
But His command, when He intendeth a thing, is only that He saith unto it: Be! and it is.
فَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ 36:83
Fasubhana allathee biyadihimalakootu kulli shay-in wa-ilayhi turjaAAoon
Therefor Glory be to Him in Whose hand is the dominion over all things! Unto Him ye will be brought back.
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا 37:1
Wassaffati saffa
By those who set the ranks in battle order
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا 37:2
Fazzajirati zajra
And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا 37:3
Fattaliyati thikra
And those who read (the Word) for a reminder,
إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ 37:4
Inna ilahakum lawahid
Lo! thy Lord is surely One;
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ 37:5
Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma warabbu almashariq
Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings.
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ 37:6
Inna zayyanna assamaaaddunya bizeenatin alkawakib
Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets;
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ 37:7
Wahifthan min kulli shaytaninmarid
With security from every froward devil.
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ 37:8
La yassammaAAoona ila almala-ial-aAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janib
They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side,
دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ 37:9
Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasib
Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ 37:10
Illa man khatifa alkhatfatafaatbaAAahu shihabun thaqib
Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame.
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ 37:11
Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan amman khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teeninlazib
Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay.
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ 37:12
Bal AAajibta wayaskharoon
Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ 37:13
Wa-itha thukkiroo la yathkuroon
And heed not when they are reminded,
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ 37:14
Wa-itha raaw ayatanyastaskhiroon
And seek to scoff when they behold a portent.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ 37:15
Waqaloo in hatha illasihrun mubeen
And they say: Lo! this is mere magic;
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ 37:16
A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamabAAoothoon
When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)?
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ 37:17
Awa abaona al-awwaloon
And our forefathers?
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ 37:18
Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroon
Say (O Muhammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low.
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ 37:19
Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahidatunfa-itha hum yanthuroon
There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold,
وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ 37:20
Waqaloo ya waylana hathayawmu addeen
And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment.
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ 37:21
Hatha yawmu alfasli allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboon
This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny.
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ 37:22
Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoowaazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoon
(And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ 37:23
Min dooni Allahi fahdoohum ilasirati aljaheem
Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell;
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ 37:24
Waqifoohum innahum masooloon
And stop them, for they must be questioned.
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ 37:25
Ma lakum la tanasaroon
What aileth you that ye help not one another?
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ 37:26
Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoon
Nay, but this day they make full submission.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ 37:27
Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon
And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ 37:28
Qaloo innakum kuntum ta/toonanaAAani alyameen
They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth).
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ 37:29
Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mu/mineen
They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers.
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ 37:30
Wama kana lanaAAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheen
We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ 37:31
Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbinainna latha-iqoon
Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom).
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ 37:32
Faaghwaynakum inna kunnaghaween
Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray.
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ 37:33
Fa-innahum yawma-ithin fee alAAathabimushtarikoon
Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 37:34
Inna kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen
Lo! thus deal We with the guilty.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ 37:35
Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahumla ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroon
For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ 37:36
Wayaqooloona a-inna latarikoo alihatinalishaAAirin majnoon
And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet?
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 37:37
Bal jaa bilhaqqi wasaddaqaalmursaleen
Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him).
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ 37:38
Innakum latha-iqoo alAAathabial-aleem
Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom -
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ 37:39
Wama tujzawna illa makuntum taAAmaloon
Ye are requited naught save what ye did -
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 37:40
Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
Save single-minded slaves of Allah;
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ 37:41
Ola-ika lahum rizqun maAAloom
For them there is a known provision,
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ 37:42
Fawakihu wahum mukramoon
Fruits. And they will be honoured
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ 37:43
Fee jannati annaAAeem
In the Gardens of delight,
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ 37:44
AAala sururin mutaqabileen
On couches facing one another;
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ 37:45
Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeen
A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them,
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ 37:46
Baydaa laththatin lishsharibeen
White, delicious to the drinkers,
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ 37:47
La feeha ghawlun walahum AAanha yunzafoon
Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby.
وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ 37:48
WaAAindahum qasiratu attarfiAAeen
And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes,
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ 37:49
Kaannahunna baydun maknoon
(Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich).
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ 37:50
Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon
And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ 37:51
Qala qa-ilun minhum innee kanalee qareen
A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ 37:52
Yaqoolu a-innaka lamina almusaddiqeen
Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)?
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ 37:53
A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamadeenoon
Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book?
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ 37:54
Qala hal antum muttaliAAoon
He saith: Will ye look?
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ 37:55
FattalaAAa faraahu feesawa-i aljaheem
Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell.
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ 37:56
Qala tallahi in kidtalaturdeen
He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin,
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ 37:57
Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu minaalmuhdareen
And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom).
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ 37:58
Afama nahnu bimayyiteen
Are we then not to die
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ 37:59
Illa mawtatana al-oolawama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen
Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished?
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ 37:60
Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheem
Lo! this is the supreme triumph.
لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ 37:61
Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloon
For the like of this, then, let the workers work.
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ 37:62
Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratuazzaqqoom
Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum?
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ 37:63
Inna jaAAalnahafitnatan liththalimeen
Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers.
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ 37:64
Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee aslialjaheem
Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell.
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ 37:65
TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu ashshayateen
Its crop is as it were the heads of devils
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ 37:66
Fa-innahum laakiloona minhafamali-oona minha albutoon
And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ 37:67
Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawbanmin hameem
And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ 37:68
Thumma inna marjiAAahum la-ila aljaheem
And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell.
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ 37:69
Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleen
They indeed found their fathers astray,
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ 37:70
Fahum AAala atharihimyuhraAAoon
But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps.
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 37:71
Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharual-awwaleen
And verily most of the men of old went astray before them,
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ 37:72
Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireen
And verily We sent among them warners.
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ 37:73
Fanthur kayfa kanaAAaqibatu almunthareen
Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned,
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 37:74
Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
Save single-minded slaves of Allah.
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ 37:75
Walaqad nadana noohunfalaniAAma almujeeboon
And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ 37:76
Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbialAAatheem
And We saved him and his household from the great distress,
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ 37:77
WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humualbaqeen
And made his seed the survivors,
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ 37:78
Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen
And left for him among the later folk (the salutation):
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 37:79
Salamun AAala noohinfee alAAalameen
Peace be unto Noah among the peoples!
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 37:80
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Lo! thus do We reward the good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 37:81
Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves.
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ 37:82
Thumma aghraqna al-akhareen
Then We did drown the others.
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ 37:83
Wa-inna min sheeAAatihi la-ibraheem
And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ 37:84
Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbinsaleem
When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart;
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ 37:85
Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mathataAAbudoon
When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship?
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ 37:86
A-ifkan alihatan doona Allahitureedoon
Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire?
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 37:87
Fama thannukum birabbialAAalameen
What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds?
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ 37:88
Fanathara nathratanfee annujoom
And he glanced a glance at the stars
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ 37:89
Faqala innee saqeem
Then said: Lo! I feel sick!
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ 37:90
Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireen
And they turned their backs and went away from him.
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ 37:91
Faragha ila alihatihimfaqala ala ta/kuloon
Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat?
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ 37:92
Ma lakum la tantiqoon
What aileth you that ye speak not?
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ 37:93
Faragha AAalayhim darban bilyameen
Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand.
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ 37:94
Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoon
And (his people) came toward him, hastening.
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ 37:95
Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoon
He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ 37:96
Wallahu khalaqakum wamataAAmaloon
When Allah hath created you and what ye make?
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ 37:97
Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyananfaalqoohu fee aljaheem
They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire.
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ 37:98
Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumual-asfaleen
And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost.
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ 37:99
Waqala innee thahibun ilarabbee sayahdeen
And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me.
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ 37:100
Rabbi hablee mina assaliheen
My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous.
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ 37:101
Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleem
So We gave him tidings of a gentle son.
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ 37:102
Falamma balagha maAAahu assaAAyaqala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanamiannee athbahuka fanthur mathatara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tu/marusatajidunee in shaa Allahu mina assabireen
And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast.
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ 37:103
Falamma aslama watallahuliljabeen
Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face,
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ 37:104
Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheem
We called unto him: O Abraham!
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 37:105
Qad saddaqta arru/yainna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ 37:106
Inna hatha lahuwa albalaoalmubeen
Lo! that verily was a clear test.
وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ 37:107
Wafadaynahu bithibhinAAatheem
Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ 37:108
Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen
And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation):
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ 37:109
Salamun AAala ibraheem
Peace be unto Abraham!
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 37:110
Kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Thus do We reward the good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 37:111
Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves.
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ 37:112
Wabashsharnahu bi-ishaqanabiyyan mina assaliheen
And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous.
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ 37:113
Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAalaishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinunwathalimun linafsihi mubeen
And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves.
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ 37:114
Walaqad mananna AAala moosawaharoon
And We verily gave grace unto Moses and Aaron,
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ 37:115
Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahumamina alkarbi alAAatheem
And saved them and their people from the great distress,
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ 37:116
Wanasarnahum fakanoohumu alghalibeen
And helped them so that they became the victors.
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ 37:117
Waataynahuma alkitabaalmustabeen
And We gave them the clear Scripture
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ 37:118
Wahadaynahuma assirataalmustaqeem
And showed them the right path.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ 37:119
Watarakna AAalayhima fee al-akhireen
And We left for them among the later folk (the salutation):
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ 37:120
Salamun AAala moosawaharoon
Peace be unto Moses and Aaron!
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 37:121
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Lo! thus do We reward the good.
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 37:122
Innahuma min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
Lo! they are two of Our believing slaves.
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 37:123
Wa-inna ilyasa lamina almursaleen
And lo! Elias was of those sent (to warn),
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 37:124
Ith qala liqawmihi alatattaqoon
When he said unto his folk: Will ye not ward off (evil)?
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ 37:125
AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsanaalkhaliqeen
Will ye cry unto Baal and forsake the Best of creators,
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 37:126
Allaha rabbakum warabba aba-ikumual-awwaleen
Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ 37:127
Fakaththaboohu fa-innahum lamuhdaroon
But they denied him, so they surely will be haled forth (to the doom)
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 37:128
Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
Save single-minded slaves of Allah.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ 37:129
Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen
And we left for him among the later folk (the salutation):
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ 37:130
Salamun AAala il yaseen
Peace be unto Elias!
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 37:131
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Lo! thus do We reward the good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 37:132
Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen
Lo! he is one of our believing slaves.
وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 37:133
Wa-inna lootan lamina almursaleen
And lo! Lot verily was of those sent (to warn).
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ 37:134
Ith najjaynahu waahlahuajmaAAeen
When We saved him and his household, every one,
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ 37:135
Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireen
Save an old woman among those who stayed behind;
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ 37:136
Thumma dammarna al-akhareen
Then We destroyed the others.
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ 37:137
Wa-innakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheen
And lo! ye verily pass by (the ruin of) them in the morning
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ 37:138
Wabillayli afala taAAqiloon
And at night-time; have ye then no sense?
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 37:139
Wa-inna yoonusa lamina almursaleen
And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn)
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ 37:140
Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhoon
When he fled unto the laden ship,
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ 37:141
Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeen
And then drew lots and was of those rejected;
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ 37:142
Faltaqamahu alhootu wahuwamuleem
And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy;
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ 37:143
Falawla annahu kana minaalmusabbiheen
And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah)
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ 37:144
Lalabitha fee batnihi ilayawmi yubAAathoon
He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised;
۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ 37:145
Fanabathnahu bilAAara-iwahuwa saqeem
Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick;
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ 37:146
Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan minyaqteen
And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him;
وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ 37:147
Waarsalnahu ila mi-ati alfinaw yazeedoon
And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ 37:148
Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ilaheen
And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while.
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ 37:149
Fastaftihim alirabbika albanatuwalahumu albanoon
Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons?
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ 37:150
Am khalaqna almala-ikata inathanwahum shahidoon
Or created We the angels females while they were present?
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ 37:151
Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloon
Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say:
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ 37:152
Walada Allahu wa-innahum lakathiboon
Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie.
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ 37:153
Astafa albanati AAalaalbaneen
(And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons.
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ 37:154
Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoon
What aileth you? How judge ye?
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ 37:155
Afala tathakkaroon
Will ye not then reflect?
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ 37:156
Am lakum sultanun mubeen
Or have ye a clear warrant?
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ 37:157
Fa/too bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeen
Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful.
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ 37:158
WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnatinasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon
And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him).
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ 37:159
Subhana Allahi AAammayasifoon
Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him),
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 37:160
Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
Save single-minded slaves of Allah.
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ 37:161
Fa-innakum wama taAAbudoon
Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship,
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ 37:162
Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineen
Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him.
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ 37:163
Illa man huwa sali aljaheem
Save him who is to burn in hell.
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ 37:164
Wama minna illa lahumaqamun maAAloom
There is not one of us but hath his known position.
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ 37:165
Wa-inna lanahnu assaffoon
Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks,
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ 37:166
Wa-inna lanahnu almusabbihoon
Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ 37:167
Wa-in kanoo layaqooloon
And indeed they used to say:
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 37:168
Law anna AAindana thikranmina al-awwaleen
If we had but a reminder from the men of old
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 37:169
Lakunna AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen
We would be single-minded slaves of Allah.
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ 37:170
Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoon
Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know.
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 37:171
Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadinaalmursaleen
And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn)
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ 37:172
Innahum lahumu almansooroon
That they verily would be helped,
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ 37:173
Wa-inna jundana lahumu alghaliboon
And that Our host, they verily would be the victors.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ 37:174
Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heen
So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile,
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ 37:175
Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroon
And watch, for they will (soon) see.
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ 37:176
AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloon
Would they hasten on Our doom?
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ 37:177
Fa-itha nazala bisahatihimfasaa sabahu almunthareen
But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned.
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ 37:178
Watawalla AAanhum hatta heen
Withdraw from them awhile
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ 37:179
Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroon
And watch, for they will (soon) see.
سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ 37:180
Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzatiAAamma yasifoon
Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)
وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 37:181
Wasalamun AAala almursaleen
And peace be unto those sent (to warn).
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 37:182
Walhamdu lillahirabbi alAAalameen
And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!
صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ 38:1
Sad walqur-ani theeaththikr
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an,
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ 38:2
Bali allatheena kafaroo fee AAizzatinwashiqaq
Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism.
كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ 38:3
Kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarninfanadaw walata heena manas
How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape!
وَعَجِبُوٓا۟ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا سَـٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ 38:4
WaAAajiboo an jaahum munthirunminhum waqala alkafiroona hatha sahirunkaththab
And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan.
أَجَعَلَ ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًا وَٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌ 38:5
AjaAAala al-alihata ilahan wahidaninna hatha lashay-on AAujab
Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing.
وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُوا۟ وَٱصْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ يُرَادُ 38:6
Wantalaqa almalao minhum aniimshoo wasbiroo AAala alihatikuminna hatha lashay-on yurad
The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed.
مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِى ٱلْمِلَّةِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ 38:7
Ma samiAAna bihatha feealmillati al-akhirati in hatha illa ikhtilaq
We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention.
أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ 38:8
Aonzila AAalayhi aththikru minbaynina bal hum fee shakkin min thikree bal lammayathooqoo AAathab
Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom.
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْوَهَّابِ 38:9
Am AAindahum khaza-inu rahmatirabbika alAAazeezi alwahhab
Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower?
أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ 38:10
Am lahum mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma falyartaqoofee al-asbab
Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes!
جُندٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ 38:11
Jundun ma hunalika mahzoomunmina al-ahzab
A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there.
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ 38:12
Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohinwaAAadun wafirAAawnu thoo al-awtad
The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted,
وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ 38:13
Wathamoodu waqawmu lootin waas-habual-aykati ola-ika al-ahzab
And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions.
إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ 38:14
In kullun illa kaththaba arrusulafahaqqa AAiqab
Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified,
وَمَا يَنظُرُ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِن فَوَاقٍ 38:15
Wama yanthuru haola-iilla sayhatan wahidatan ma lahamin fawaq
These wait for but one Shout, there will be no second thereto.
وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ 38:16
Waqaloo rabbana AAajjil lanaqittana qabla yawmi alhisab
They say: Our Lord! Hasten on for us our fate before the Day of Reckoning.
ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ 38:17
Isbir AAala mayaqooloona wathkur AAabdana dawooda thaal-aydi innahu awwab
Bear with what they say, and remember Our bondman David, lord of might, Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah).
إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ 38:18
Inna sakhkharna aljibalamaAAahu yusabbihna bilAAashiyyi wal-ishraq
Lo! We subdued the hills to hymn the praises (of their Lord) with him at nightfall and sunrise,
وَٱلطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً ۖ كُلٌّ لَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ 38:19
Wattayra mahshooratankullun lahu awwab
And the birds assembled; all were turning unto Him.
وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ 38:20
Washadadna mulkahu waataynahualhikmata wafasla alkhitab
We made his kingdom strong and gave him wisdom and decisive speech.
۞ وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا۟ ٱلْمِحْرَابَ 38:21
Wahal ataka nabao alkhasmi ithtasawwaroo almihrab
And hath the story of the litigants come unto thee? How they climbed the wall into the royal chamber;
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱهْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ 38:22
Ith dakhaloo AAala dawoodafafaziAAa minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmanibagha baAAduna AAala baAAdinfahkum baynana bilhaqqi walatushtit wahdina ila sawa-iassirat
How they burst in upon David, and he was afraid of them. They said: Be not afraid! (We are) two litigants, one of whom hath wronged the other, therefor judge aright between us; be not unjust; and show us the fair way.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِىَ نَعْجَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِى ٱلْخِطَابِ 38:23
Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAunwatisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqalaakfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitab
Lo! this my brother hath ninety and nine ewes while I had one ewe; and he said: Entrust it to me, and he conquered me in speech.
قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ لَيَبْغِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُۥدُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّـٰهُ فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩ 38:24
Qala laqad thalamakabisu-ali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wa-innakatheeran mina alkhulata-i layabghee baAAduhum AAalabaAAdin illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati waqaleelun mahum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahufastaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanab
(David) said: He hath wronged thee in demanding thine ewe in addition to his ewes, and lo! many partners oppress one another, save such as believe and do good works, and they are few. And David guessed that We had tried him, and he sought forgiveness of his Lord, and he bowed himself and fell down prostrate and repented.
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ 38:25
Faghafarna lahu thalikawa-inna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maab
So We forgave him that; and lo! he had access to Our presence and a happy journey's end.
يَـٰدَاوُۥدُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ خَلِيفَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْحِسَابِ 38:26
Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnakakhaleefatan fee al-ardi fahkum bayna annasibilhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillakaAAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloonaAAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bimanasoo yawma alhisab
(And it was said unto him): O David! Lo! We have set thee as a viceroy in the earth; therefor judge aright between mankind, and follow not desire that it beguile thee from the way of Allah. Lo! those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful doom, forasmuch as they forgot the Day of Reckoning.
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ 38:27
Wama khalaqna assamaawal-arda wama baynahuma batilanthalika thannu allatheena kafaroofawaylun lillatheena kafaroo mina annar
And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire!
أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱلْفُجَّارِ 38:28
Am najAAalu allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati kalmufsideenafee al-ardi am najAAalu almuttaqeena kalfujjar
Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the pious as the wicked?
كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ 38:29
Kitabun anzalnahu ilayka mubarakunliyaddabbaroo ayatihi waliyatathakkara olooal-albab
(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect.
وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ 38:30
Wawahabna lidawooda sulaymananiAAma alAAabdu innahu awwab
And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah).
إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ ٱلْجِيَادُ 38:31
Ith AAurida AAalayhi bilAAashiyyiassafinatu aljiyad
When there were shown to him at eventide lightfooted coursers
فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ 38:32
Faqala innee ahbabtu hubbaalkhayri AAan thikri rabbee hatta tawaratbilhijab
And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain.
رُدُّوهَا عَلَىَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًۢا بِٱلسُّوقِ وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ 38:33
Ruddooha AAalayya fatafiqa mashanbissooqi wal-aAAnaq
(Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks.
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِۦ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ 38:34
Walaqad fatanna sulaymanawaalqayna AAala kursiyyihi jasadan thumma anab
And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent.
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ 38:35
Qala rabbi ighfir lee wahab leemulkan la yanbaghee li-ahadin min baAAdee innakaanta alwahhab
He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower.
فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ ٱلرِّيحَ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦ رُخَآءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ 38:36
Fasakhkharna lahu arreehatajree bi-amrihi rukhaan haythu asab
So We made the wind subservient unto him, setting fair by his command whithersoever he intended.
وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ 38:37
Washshayateena kulla banna-inwaghawwas
And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient),
وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ 38:38
Waakhareena muqarraneena fee al-asfad
And others linked together in chains,
هَـٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَٱمْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ 38:39
Hatha AAataona famnunaw amsik bighayri hisab
(Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning.
وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ 38:40
Wa-inna lahu AAindana lazulfawahusna maab
And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end.
وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ 38:41
Wathkur AAabdanaayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya ashshaytanubinusbin waAAathab
And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment.
ٱرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ 38:42
Orkud birijlika hathamughtasalun baridun washarab
(And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink.
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ 38:43
Wawahabna lahu ahlahu wamithlahummaAAahum rahmatan minna wathikrali-olee al-albab
And We bestowed on him (again) his household and therewith the like thereof, a mercy from Us, and a memorial for men of understanding.
وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَٱضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَـٰهُ صَابِرًا ۚ نِّعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ 38:44
Wakhuth biyadika dighthan fadribbihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiranniAAma alAAabdu innahu awwab
And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord).
وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ 38:45
Wathkur AAibadanaibraheema wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba olee al-aydee wal-absar
And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision.
إِنَّآ أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى ٱلدَّارِ 38:46
Inna akhlasnahum bikhalisatinthikra addar
Lo! We purified them with a pure thought, remembrance of the Home (of the Hereafter).
وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ 38:47
Wa-innahum AAindana lamina almustafaynaal-akhyar
Lo! in Our sight they are verily of the elect, the excellent.
وَٱذْكُرْ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ 38:48
Wathkur ismaAAeelawa-ilyasaAAa watha alkifli wakullun mina al-akhyar
And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. All are of the chosen.
هَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ 38:49
Hatha thikrun wa-innalilmuttaqeena lahusna maab
This is a reminder. And lo! for those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end,
جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ 38:50
Jannati AAadnin mufattahatanlahumu al-abwab
Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them,
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ 38:51
Muttaki-eena feeha yadAAoona feehabifakihatin katheeratin washarab
Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein.
۞ وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ 38:52
WaAAindahum qasiratu attarfiatrab
And with them are those of modest gaze, companions.
هَـٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ 38:53
Hatha ma tooAAadoona liyawmialhisab
This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن نَّفَادٍ 38:54
Inna hatha larizquna malahu min nafad
Lo! this in truth is Our provision, which will never waste away.
هَـٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّـٰغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَـَٔابٍ 38:55
Hatha wa-inna littagheenalasharra maab
This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end,
جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ 38:56
Jahannama yaslawnaha fabi/saalmihad
Hell, where they will burn, an evil resting-place.
هَـٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ 38:57
Hatha falyathooqoohu hameemunwaghassaq
Here is a boiling and an ice-cold draught, so let them taste it,
وَءَاخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجٌ 38:58
Waakharu min shaklihi azwaj
And other (torment) of the kind in pairs (the two extremes)!
هَـٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا۟ ٱلنَّارِ 38:59
Hatha fawjun muqtahimunmaAAakum la marhaban bihim innahum saloo annar
Here is an army rushing blindly with you. (Those who are already in the Fire say): No word of welcome for them. Lo! they will roast at the Fire.
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرَارُ 38:60
Qaloo bal antum la marhabanbikum antum qaddamtumoohu lana fabi/sa alqarar
They say: Nay, but you (misleaders), for you there is no word of welcome. Ye prepared this for us (by your misleading). Now hapless is the plight.
قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَـٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِى ٱلنَّارِ 38:61
Qaloo rabbana man qaddama lanahatha fazidhu AAathaban diAAfan fee annar
They say: Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for us, oh, give him double portion of the Fire!
وَقَالُوا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ 38:62
Waqaloo ma lana lanara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina al-ashrar
And they say: What aileth us that we behold not men whom we were wont to count among the wicked?
أَتَّخَذْنَـٰهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ 38:63
Attakhathnahum sikhriyyan am zaghatAAanhumu al-absar
Did we take them (wrongly) for a laughing-stock, or have our eyes missed them?
إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ ٱلنَّارِ 38:64
Inna thalika lahaqqun takhasumuahli annar
Lo! that is very truth: the wrangling of the dwellers in the Fire.
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ 38:65
Qul innama ana munthirunwama min ilahin illa Allahu alwahidualqahhar
Say (unto them, O Muhammad): I am only a warner, and there is no Allah save Allah, the One, the Absolute,
رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ 38:66
Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma alAAazeezu alghaffar
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Mighty, the Pardoning.
قُلْ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا۟ عَظِيمٌ 38:67
Qul huwa nabaon AAatheem
Say: It is tremendous tidings
أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ 38:68
Antum AAanhu muAAridoon
Whence ye turn away!
مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۭ بِٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ 38:69
Ma kana liya min AAilmin bilmala-ial-aAAla ith yakhtasimoon
I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed;
إِن يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ 38:70
In yooha ilayya illa annamaana natheerun mubeen
It is revealed unto me only that I may be a plain warner.
إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَـٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ 38:71
Ith qala rabbuka lilmala-ikatiinnee khaliqun basharan min teen
When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire,
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ 38:72
Fa-itha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehimin roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideen
And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate,
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ 38:73
Fasajada almala-ikatu kulluhumajmaAAoon
The angels fell down prostrate, every one,
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ ٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ 38:74
Illa ibleesa istakbara wakanamina alkafireen
Saving Iblis; he was scornful and became one of the disbelievers.
قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ 38:75
Qala ya ibleesu mamanaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta amkunta mina alAAaleen
He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?
قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍ 38:76
Qala ana khayrun minhukhalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teen
He said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire, whilst him Thou didst create of clay.
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ 38:77
Qala fakhruj minhafa-innaka rajeem
He said: Go forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast,
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ 38:78
Wa-inna AAalayka laAAnatee ila yawmiaddeen
And lo! My curse is on thee till the Day of Judgment.
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ 38:79
Qala rabbi faanthirneeila yawmi yubAAathoon
He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ 38:80
Qala fa-innaka mina almunthareen
He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ 38:81
Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloom
Until the day of the time appointed.
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ 38:82
Qala fabiAAizzatika laoghwiyannahumajmaAAeen
He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 38:83
Illa AAibadaka minhumualmukhlaseen
Save Thy single-minded slaves among them.
قَالَ فَٱلْحَقُّ وَٱلْحَقَّ أَقُولُ 38:84
Qala falhaqqu walhaqqaaqool
He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak,
لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ 38:85
Laamlaanna jahannama minka wamimmantabiAAaka minhum ajmaAAeen
That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee, together.
قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ 38:86
Qul ma as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrinwama ana mina almutakallifeen
Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for this, and I am no simulating.
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 38:87
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen
Lo! it is naught else than a reminder for all peoples
وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ 38:88
WalataAAlamunna nabaahu baAAda heen
And ye will come in time to know the truth thereof.
تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ 39:1
Tanzeelu alkitabi mina AllahialAAazeezi alhakeem
The revelation of the Scripture is from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَٱعْبُدِ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ ٱلدِّينَ 39:2
Inna anzalna ilayka alkitababilhaqqi faAAbudi Allaha mukhlisanlahu addeen
Lo! We have revealed the Scripture unto thee (Muhammad) with truth; so worship Allah, making religion pure for Him (only).
أَلَا لِلَّهِ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْخَالِصُ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ زُلْفَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِى مَا هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ كَـٰذِبٌ كَفَّارٌ 39:3
Ala lillahi addeenualkhalisu wallatheena ittakhathoomin doonihi awliyaa ma naAAbuduhum illaliyuqarriboona ila Allahi zulfa innaAllaha yahkumu baynahum fee ma hum feehiyakhtalifoona inna Allaha la yahdee man huwa kathibunkaffar
Surely pure religion is for Allah only. And those who choose protecting friends beside Him (say): We worship them only that they may bring us near unto Allah. Lo! Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Lo! Allah guideth not him who is a liar, an ingrate.
لَّوْ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا لَّٱصْطَفَىٰ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ 39:4
Law arada Allahu an yattakhithawaladan lastafa mimma yakhluqu mayashao subhanahu huwa Allahu alwahidualqahhar
If Allah had willed to choose a son, He could have chosen what He would of that which He hath created. Be He Glorified! He is Allah, the One, the Absolute.
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ يُكَوِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ عَلَى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ ٱلنَّهَارَ عَلَى ٱلَّيْلِ ۖ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ كُلٌّ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۗ أَلَا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ 39:5
Khalaqa assamawati wal-ardabilhaqqi yukawwiru allayla AAala annahariwayukawwiru annahara AAala allayliwasakhkhara ashshamsa walqamara kullun yajreeli-ajalin musamman ala huwa alAAazeezu alghaffar
He hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. He maketh night to succeed day, and He maketh day to succeed night, and He constraineth the sun and the moon to give service, each running on for an appointed term. Is not He the Mighty, the Forgiver?
خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ ثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٰجٍ ۚ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتٍ ثَلَـٰثٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ 39:6
Khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin thummajaAAala minha zawjaha waanzala lakum mina al-anAAamithamaniyata azwajin yakhluqukum fee butooniommahatikum khalqan min baAAdi khalqin fee thulumatinthalathin thalikumu Allahu rabbukum lahualmulku la ilaha illa huwa faanna tusrafoon
He created you from one being, then from that (being) He made its mate; and He hath provided for you of cattle eight kinds. He created you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in a threefold gloom. Such is Allah, your Lord. His is the Sovereignty. There is no Allah save Him. How then are ye turned away?
إِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنكُمْ ۖ وَلَا يَرْضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ ٱلْكُفْرَ ۖ وَإِن تَشْكُرُوا۟ يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ ۗ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ 39:7
In takfuroo fa-inna Allaha ghaniyyunAAankum wala yarda liAAibadihi alkufra wa-intashkuroo yardahu lakum wala taziru waziratunwizra okhra thumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukumfayunabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloona innahu AAaleemun bithatiassudoor
If ye are thankless, yet Allah is Independent of you, though He is not pleased with thanklessness for His bondmen; and if ye are thankful He is pleased therewith for you. No laden soul will bear another's load. Then unto your Lord is your return; and He will tell you what ye used to do. Lo! He knoweth what is in the breasts (of men).
۞ وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ضُرٌّ دَعَا رَبَّهُۥ مُنِيبًا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُۥ نِعْمَةً مِّنْهُ نَسِىَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًا لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ قُلْ تَمَتَّعْ بِكُفْرِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ إِنَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ 39:8
Wa-itha massa al-insana durrundaAAa rabbahu muneeban ilayhi thumma ithakhawwalahu niAAmatan minhu nasiya ma kana yadAAooilayhi min qablu wajaAAala lillahi andadan liyudillaAAan sabeelihi qul tamattaAA bikufrika qaleelan innaka min as-habiannar
And when some hurt toucheth man, he crieth unto his Lord, turning unto Him (repentant). Then, when He granteth him a boon from Him he forgetteth that for which he cried unto Him before, and setteth up rivals to Allah that he may beguile (men) from his way. Say (O Muhammad, unto such an one): Take pleasure in thy disbelief a while. Lo! thou art of the owners of the Fire.
أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَـٰنِتٌ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ سَاجِدًا وَقَآئِمًا يَحْذَرُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُوا۟ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِۦ ۗ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۗ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ 39:9
Amman huwa qanitun anaaallayli sajidan waqa-iman yahtharu al-akhiratawayarjoo rahmata rabbihi qul hal yastawee allatheenayaAAlamoona wallatheena la yaAAlamoonainnama yatathakkaru oloo al-albab
Is he who payeth adoration in the watches of the night, prostrate and standing, bewaring of the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, (to be accounted equal with a disbeliever)? Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only men of understanding will pay heed.
قُلْ يَـٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ ۗ وَأَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌ ۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ 39:10
Qul ya AAibadi allatheenaamanoo ittaqoo rabbakum lillatheena ahsanoofee hathihi addunya hasanatun waarduAllahi wasiAAatun innama yuwaffa assabiroonaajrahum bighayri hisab
Say: O My bondmen who believe! Observe your duty to your Lord. For those who do good in this world there is good, and Allah's earth is spacious. Verily the steadfast will be paid their wages without stint.
قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ ٱلدِّينَ 39:11
Qul innee omirtu an aAAbuda Allahamukhlisan lahu addeen
Say (O Muhammad): Lo! I am commanded to worship Allah, making religion pure for Him (only).
وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ 39:12
Waomirtu li-an akoona awwala almuslimeen
And I am commanded to be the first of those who are muslims (surrender unto Him).
قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 39:13
Qul innee akhafu in AAasayturabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheem
Say: Lo! if I should disobey my Lord, I fear the doom of a tremendous Day.
قُلِ ٱللَّهَ أَعْبُدُ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُۥ دِينِى 39:14
Quli Allaha aAAbudu mukhlisanlahu deenee
Say: Allah I worship, making my religion pure for Him (only).
فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ 39:15
FaAAbudoo ma shi/tum mindoonihi qul inna alkhasireena allatheena khasirooanfusahum waahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala thalikahuwa alkhusranu almubeen
Then worship what ye will beside Him. Say: The losers will be those who lose themselves and their housefolk on the Day of Resurrection. Ah, that will be the manifest loss!
لَهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمِن تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ عِبَادَهُۥ ۚ يَـٰعِبَادِ فَٱتَّقُونِ 39:16
Lahum min fawqihim thulalunmina annari wamin tahtihim thulalunthalika yukhawwifu Allahu bihi AAibadahu yaAAibadi fattaqoon
They have an awning of fire above them and beneath them a dais (of fire). With this doth Allah appal His bondmen. O My bondmen, therefor fear Me!
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱجْتَنَبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ لَهُمُ ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ ۚ فَبَشِّرْ عِبَادِ 39:17
Wallatheena ijtanaboo attaghootaan yaAAbudooha waanaboo ila Allahilahumu albushra fabashshir AAibad
And those who put away false gods lest they should worship them and turn to Allah in repentance, for them there are glad tidings. Therefor give good tidings (O Muhammad) to My bondmen
ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقَوْلَ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ أَحْسَنَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ 39:18
Allatheena yastamiAAoona alqawlafayattabiAAoona ahsanahu ola-ika allatheenahadahumu Allahu waola-ika hum oloo al-albab
Who hear advice and follow the best thereof. Such are those whom Allah guideth, and such are men of understanding.
أَفَمَنْ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ أَفَأَنتَ تُنقِذُ مَن فِى ٱلنَّارِ 39:19
Afaman haqqa AAalayhi kalimatu alAAathabiafaanta tunqithu man fee annar
Is he on whom the word of doom is fulfilled (to be helped), and canst thou (O Muhammad) rescue him who is in the Fire?
لَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌ مَّبْنِيَّةٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ 39:20
Lakini allatheena ittaqawrabbahum lahum ghurafun min fawqiha ghurafun mabniyyatuntajree min tahtiha al-anharu waAAda Allahila yukhlifu Allahu almeeAAad
But those who keep their duty to their Lord, for them are lofty halls with lofty halls above them, built (for them), beneath which rivers flow. (It is) a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise.
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَسَلَكَهُۥ يَنَـٰبِيعَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًا مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَىٰهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُۥ حُطَـٰمًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ 39:21
Alam tara anna Allaha anzala mina assama-imaan fasalakahu yanabeeAAa fee al-ardithumma yukhriju bihi zarAAan mukhtalifan alwanuhu thummayaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yajAAaluhu hutamaninna fee thalika lathikra li-olee al-albab
Hast thou not seen how Allah hath sent down water from the sky and hath caused it to penetrate the earth as watersprings, and afterward thereby produceth crops of divers hues; and afterward they wither and thou seest them turn yellow; then He maketh them chaff. Lo! herein verily is a reminder for men of understanding.
أَفَمَن شَرَحَ ٱللَّهُ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ نُورٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْقَـٰسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ 39:22
Afaman sharaha Allahu sadrahulil-islami fahuwa AAala noorin min rabbihi fawaylunlilqasiyati quloobuhum min thikri Allahi ola-ikafee dalalin mubeen
Is he whose bosom Allah hath expanded for Al-Islam, so that he followeth a light from his Lord, (as he who disbelieveth)? Then woe unto those whose hearts are hardened against remembrance of Allah. Such are in plain error.
ٱللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ كِتَـٰبًا مُّتَشَـٰبِهًا مَّثَانِىَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ 39:23
Allahu nazzala ahsana alhadeethikitaban mutashabihan mathaniya taqshaAAirruminhu juloodu allatheena yakhshawna rabbahum thummataleenu julooduhum waquloobuhum ila thikri Allahithalika huda Allahi yahdee bihi man yashaowaman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min had
Allah hath (now) revealed the fairest of statements, a Scripture consistent, (wherein promises of reward are) paired (with threats of punishment), whereat doth creep the flesh of those who fear their Lord, so that their flesh and their hearts soften to Allah's reminder. Such is Allah's guidance, wherewith He guideth whom He will. And him whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide.
أَفَمَن يَتَّقِى بِوَجْهِهِۦ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ 39:24
Afaman yattaqee biwajhihi soo-a alAAathabiyawma alqiyamati waqeela liththalimeenathooqoo ma kuntum taksiboon
Is he then, who will strike his face against the awful doom upon the Day of Resurrection (as he who doeth right)? And it will be said unto the wrong-doers: Taste what ye used to earn.
كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ 39:25
Kaththaba allatheena minqablihim faatahumu alAAathabu min haythu layashAAuroon
Those before them denied, and so the doom came on them whence they knew not.
فَأَذَاقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخِزْىَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ 39:26
Faathaqahumu Allahu alkhizyafee alhayati addunya walaAAathabual-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoon
Thus Allah made them taste humiliation in the life of the world, and verily the doom of the Hereafter will be greater if they did but know.
وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ 39:27
Walaqad darabna linnasifee hatha alqur-ani min kulli mathalin laAAallahumyatathakkaroon
And verily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes, that haply they may reflect;
قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيْرَ ذِى عِوَجٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ 39:28
Qur-anan AAarabiyyan ghayra theeAAiwajin laAAallahum yattaqoon
A Lecture in Arabic, containing no crookedness, that haply they may ward off (evil).
ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلًا فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ مُتَشَـٰكِسُونَ وَرَجُلًا سَلَمًا لِّرَجُلٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلًا ۚ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 39:29
Daraba Allahu mathalan rajulanfeehi shurakao mutashakisoona warajulan salamanlirajulin hal yastawiyani mathalan alhamdu lillahibal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoon
Allah coineth a similitude: A man in relation to whom are several part-owners, quarrelling, and a man belonging wholly to one man. Are the two equal in similitude? Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not.
إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ 39:30
Innaka mayyitun wa-innahum mayyitoon
Lo! thou wilt die, and lo! they will die;
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ 39:31
Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamatiAAinda rabbikum takhtasimoon
Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord ye will dispute.
